Google announced that it will host a media-only preview event for Googlebooks in New York City on September 15, 2026.
The event will feature a keynote by Google executives and hands-on demonstrations of first-wave devices from five launch partners: Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. However, Google is not expected to officially launch or fully detail the Googlebooks at the event itself; as a media-first preview, public details will likely follow at a later date.
Leaks Reveal First-Wave Hardware and App Details
Multiple product images of the upcoming Googlebook launch lineup have leaked, revealing key designs and specifications ahead of the fall release:

The ASUS Googlebook CX9406 features a "Glow Bar" on the lid and sports a design reminiscent of the ExpertBook Ultra. Leaks also confirmed the existence of a high-end variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

A leaked render of the Lenovo Googlebook i (15", 12) confirmed it will feature a 15.3-inch display but omit a dedicated numeric keypad.

The HP Googlebook 14c is rumored to support "Continue On," a feature designed for seamless integration with Android smartphones.
Additionally, Google Play Store listings for the "Desktop Camera" app for Googlebook were updated, revealing the final user interface and support for external webcams.
New Development Boards and Next-Gen Chips Surface
Googlebook's "Bluey" reference family of Qualcomm Snapdragon X-powered development boards has expanded. New entries include "Pic", "Meru", "Aneto", and "Annite".
Commit data suggests "Pic" is destined for Lenovo, while "Aneto" points to an Acer device. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that "Mica" is based on the Dell XPS and "Hekla" is an ASUS device.
In addition, a previously unannounced chip codenamed "Calypso" has been identified as the second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 series. This indicates that Google is already co-developing next-generation models alongside the first-generation release.
