Multiple manufacturers are currently scheduled to release Googlebook devices. Upon reinvestigating the OEM logo settings (oem_main_logo) on the boot screen, we found that this setting functions as a manufacturer-specific identifier. This newly confirmed that "Mica" is a Dell XPS-branded Googlebook, and also revealed the manufacturers of "Pic" and "Hekla," which were previously only speculated.
Identifying the Manufacturer from the OEM Logo Path
While reviewing the code based on previously discovered information, we found a comment specifying the manufacturer-specific logo folder in the Chromium Gerrit change history.
This comment shows an exchange saying, "d1490956 is for dell-xps, please change it to 137b7852 for lenovo". Therefore, we learned that the folder names under oem_main_logo are assigned as unique identifiers for each manufacturer, and the responsible manufacturer can be identified by this folder name.
This assignment and oem_main_logo can currently be confirmed on boards being developed as Googlebooks. However, some models are assigned identifiers for reference boards (pre-production design bases), so the manufacturers have not been identified yet.
"Mica" Confirmed as Dell XPS
When we searched the code for the folder name d1490956 for dell-xps, which we discovered this time, we confirmed that it was included in the code for "Mica," which is equipped with Snapdragon X.
Regarding "Mica," we previously reported that it is highly likely to be the "Dell XPS 13 (DX13267)" based on benchmark and build information. Now, directly linked with the name dell-xps in the OEM logo path, it is reaffirmed that Mica is a Dell XPS-branded Googlebook.
"Pic" Linked to Lenovo's Logo Path
"Pic," one of the "Bluey" family equipped with Snapdragon X, started development by inheriting the code of the Dell-made Mica, so it was initially thought to be a third Dell board. However, a later investigation indicated the possibility of it being made by Lenovo based on battery descriptions.
This time, we confirmed that not only "Ruby" and "Sapphire," which are already known to be made by Lenovo, but also "Pic" is linked to the logo path for Lenovo. This further supports the possibility that it is being developed as a Lenovo Googlebook.
Ocelot Series "Hekla" Goes to ASUS
Regarding "Hekla," which appeared as the fifth board of the Ocelot series equipped with Intel Wildcat Lake, we confirmed that the same logo path is used as "Lapis," which is known to be made by ASUS.
