Play Store and Large-Screen App Optimization Trends
Google announced updates to Compose adaptive skills for developers to assist in optimizing apps for large screens. With AI agents automating tasks like implementing keyboard shortcuts, broader adoption of apps optimized for Googlebook is expected.
On the application side, we confirmed that the Pixel Weather app, previously exclusive to Pixel devices, is now available for installation on Googlebook. Furthermore, the latest beta version of the rooting tool Magisk (v31.1) has officially added support for Googlebook.
Reports of New Issues
An issue causing screen flickering in Chrome and web apps on certain models appears to have been resolved with system update 17.CL3B.260622.276.R5.
However, on the Dell XPS Googlebook, a new issue causing flickering on the lower half of the screen has emerged after applying the update. Users also reported an issue with volume fluctuating repeatedly when playing audio through the built-in speakers on the Dell XPS Googlebook.
In-Development Features and Lenovo Keyboard FCC Registration
It has been revealed that the "App restore on reboot" feature, which allows users to choose whether to restore previously open apps after restarting Googlebook, is currently under development. While the rollout timing remains unknown, it is expected to bring functionality similar to Chromebook's "Welcome Recap" feature.
In addition, a detachable keyboard for Lenovo's upcoming 13-inch tablet, the Lenovo Googlebook Duet m, was registered with the US FCC (Federal Communications Commission). Submitted documents and test details indicate support for both physical pogo pin connection and wireless Bluetooth connectivity.
