Google has begun rolling out a system update for Googlebooks, bringing the Googlebook OS version up to 17.CL3B.260622.276.R5.
While Google hasn’t officially published a detailed changelog as of writing, users on Reddit report that the update fixes an issue where the "Document Creation Tool" was unavailable in certain environments.
Update details and security patch status
Applying this update moves the Googlebook OS version to 17.CL3B.260622.276.R5. The Android security patch level is updated to October 1, 2026, though devices that had already received the previous 17.CL3B.260622.276.R4 release will see no change in patch date.
The on-device update prompt simply states "Latest feature enhancements, productivity features, and security improvements," without providing a detailed breakdown of specific bug fixes.

On our Lenovo Googlebook 15, the update weighed in at 34.97 MB, while a Dell XPS Googlebook received a roughly 38 MB package—making it a minor patch similar in size to the previous R4 release (36.55 MB).
Notably, while Snapdragon-powered devices like the HP Googlebook 14 and Dell XPS Googlebook were excluded from the previous rollout, this R5 update is rolling out to both Intel and Snapdragon models.
Potential bug fixes and improvements
Although Google hasn't released official release notes, user reports on Reddit indicate that the update resolves an issue causing the "Document Creation Tool" to be greyed out and unusable. Other users have reported improvements to Bluetooth and corner shortcut issues, though specifics remain unconfirmed.
