Here are the top news stories surrounding Googlebook and Googlebook OS for the week of October 19 to 25, 2026.

This week, a system update began rolling out to Googlebooks, while reports revealed that fixes for user-reported audio delay and AI feature issues are currently in preparation. Additionally, we published articles explaining why the Find Hub app was discontinued and offering alternatives for Zoom's feature limitations on Googlebook OS.

System Update (17.CL3B.260622.276.R4) Begins Rolling Out

Google has started rolling out system update version "17.CL3B.260622.276.R4" for Googlebooks, alongside the October 1, 2026 Android security patch.

According to Google, this update addresses black level and contrast issues between SDR and HDR content on OLED panels, while also delivering rendering and stability improvements to fix visual glitches in Chrome.

However, the rollout is currently limited to Intel-powered models—including the ASUS Googlebook 14, Acer Googlebook 14, and Lenovo Googlebook 15—and has not yet arrived on Qualcomm-powered laptops from HP and Dell.

Fixes in Progress for Bluetooth Audio Delay, App Casting, and More

Google explained that it is working on fixes for several issues currently affecting Googlebook users.

The targeted issues include Bluetooth audio latency and codec limitations when connected to Pixel Buds, Gboard's "Writing Tools" feature being unavailable, and errors occurring during "App Casting" over tethered connections.

At this time, a specific timeline for the release of these fixes has not been announced.

Why the Find Hub App Was Removed and the Challenges of Laptop Tracking

Google explained the reasoning behind ending support for the Find Hub app on first-generation Googlebooks.

The Find Hub app was designed primarily for mobile devices and was not optimized for laptops, which are often carried around closed in sleep mode. While locating other devices via the web remains available, note that there is currently no method provided to locate the Googlebook itself.

Zoom: Web App (PWA) Recommended Over Android App

When using the online video conferencing tool Zoom on a Googlebook, the Android app from the Google Play Store lacks support for certain features such as virtual backgrounds and background blur.

Therefore, users looking for desktop-class features are recommended to use the Web App (PWA) version accessible via the browser.

While Zoom can be paired with Googlebook OS's native background blur feature, installing the PWA version is required if you want to set custom background effects like image backdrops.
