Google has begun rolling out a system update for Googlebook devices. Following the update, the Googlebook OS version is updated to "17.CL3B.260622.276.R4".
According to reports from Reddit users, this update resolves a display contrast issue that was affecting select devices.
Update Details and Security Patch
Applying this update bumps the Googlebook OS version to 17.CL3B.260622.276.R4 and updates the Android security patch level to October 1, 2026. Prior to this update, devices were running build versions ending in R1 or R2 with the September 1 security patch level.
The system update screen lists general improvements including "latest feature enhancements, productivity tools, and security updates," without detailing specific changes. The update file size measured on a Lenovo Googlebook 15 came in at 36.55 MB.

Display Contrast Fixed on Select Models
Although official release notes omit specific bug fixes, Reddit users report that issues with black level contrast rendering have been resolved on models such as the Lenovo Googlebook 15 and Acer Googlebook 14. Users whose devices were impacted should notice improved black level rendering post-update.
Conversely, an ASUS Googlebook 14 user reported no visible display changes. However, it remains unconfirmed whether the update was fully applied on that specific unit.
Rollout Status Across Devices
Currently, update availability has been confirmed on Lenovo and Acer Googlebook models. There are no reports yet for devices from Dell, HP, or ASUS; for instance, a Dell XPS Googlebook on hand remains on version R2.
This indicates that the system update is currently undergoing a phased rollout.
