Code commits have confirmed the arrival of a new development board codenamed "Pic" built on "Bluey," the core reference platform for Snapdragon X–powered Googlebooks. While the board relies on cloned code from the existing "Mica" project, it currently features only a minimal configuration with detailed specifications yet to be revealed.

Here is a closer look at what early code reveals about Pic and how it might fit into the broader Googlebook roadmap.

Built on Cloned Design from 'Mica'

The newly spotted "Pic" board is constructed by copying the design framework of Mica, a project widely believed to be a future Dell Googlebook.

Clues embedded in battery model numbers alongside references to personnel from Luxshare—an original design manufacturer (ODM)—point to Pic likely being a Dell Googlebook, mirroring the recent discovery of Annite.

New Pic Board Snapdragon X Bluey

Because Pic currently operates under a minimal configuration cloned from Mica, its exact specifications and unique hardware capabilities remain unconfirmed.

However, current codebase entries reveal several confirmed hardware features:

  • Dual-fan cooling system

  • OLED display support

  • Dual USB-C ports

  • Backlit keyboard

  • Power button and side volume controls

  • Up to an 18-column keyboard layout (including a numeric keypad)

Given these underlying similarities, if Mica, Annite, and Pic all materialize as Dell Googlebooks, differences between them will likely center on form factors—such as traditional clamshell versus 2-in-1 convertible designs—or varying display sizes.

XPS Series or an Entirely Different Lineup?

Mica is currently undergoing testing assigned to the model designation Dell XPS 13 (DX13267). If Annite and Pic follow suit as Dell devices, they could represent larger screen sizes in the same flagship line, such as an XPS 14 or XPS 16.

Alternatively, Dell could assign these boards to a different product segment (such as the Dell Pro series in Windows) or they could potentially belong to a different hardware vendor altogether.

Notably, development boards within the Snapdragon X–powered Bluey family have consistently adopted mineral-inspired codenames:

  • Mica: Dell

While Dell's codenames center on types of mica minerals, "Pic" initially stood out as an exception. However, "PIC" is short for Phlogopite-Ilmenite-Clinopyroxene, a geological designation tied directly to mineral and mica rock compositions.

Because Pic derives from Mica—which is already advancing through prototype testing—its development could progress fairly quickly.
