Google’s newly announced "Googlebook" laptop comes with a free one-year subscription to the "Google AI Pro" plan as a purchase perk.
While some users raised concerns that key AI features might become unavailable after the trial period ends, Google’s Alexander Kuscher clarified on the podcast "Android Faithful" that core AI functionalities will remain accessible without a paid subscription.
1-Year Google AI Pro Perk vs. Core Features
According to Kuscher, the one-year Google AI Pro subscription bundled with the Googlebook is an added value provided "on top" of the device’s standard capabilities, rather than a prerequisite for running basic OS or hardware AI features.
Citing Magic Pointer and Rambler as examples of features available at no cost, he explained that these functions are built into the system at the OS level and will continue to work seamlessly after the 13th month without requiring a paid plan.
